3003 Aluminun, the most widely used of all aluminum alloys, is a great general purpose manganese alloy. It is essentially commercially pure aluminum with the addition of manganese which increases the strength some 20% over the 1100 grade. Thus, it has all the excellent characteristics of 1100 with higher strength. H14 designates the temper, and means that 3003 has been strain hardened and partially annealed. In this condition, 3003 can be easily drawn or spun, welded or brazed. In terms of its workability, 3003 welds well with proper equipment, is easy to drill, machine, shear and form. It is non heat-treatable.
3003 Aluminum is a general purpose manganese alloy. It is stronger than 1100 with the same good formability and low cost, fine corrosion resistance and weldability. It is used in stampings, spun and drawn parts, mail boxes, cabinets, tanks, and fan blades.
Applications: 3003 Aluminum is used for drawing, forming, spinning, fuel tanks, sheet metal works and other applications that require moderate strength. It’s an excellent metal for skinning frames, truck beds, tool boxes, mail boxes, cabinets, fan blades, awnings and siding. General purpose manganese alloy. Stronger than 1100 with same good formability and low cost. Fine corrosion resistance and weldability. Used in stampings, spun and drawn parts, mail boxes, cabinets, tanks, fan blades. For higher strength, consider 5052-H32.
